LAMB: A Modern Contextual Language Model for Latin
arXiv:2610.31723v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: This article introduces Latin Modern BERT (LAMB), an encoder for the Latin language based on the ModernBERT architecture, pretrained in two phases on more than 74B Latin tokens using a novel morphologically informed masking regimen. We also present two corpora for the Latin language. Acervus contains 24B BERT WordPiece tokens, including over 760K samples from heavily damaged OCR transcriptions, repaired by a ByT5 model trained for Latin text repair

What the result supports
Interpret results only for the reported model version, task, data and inference budget. Community votes, downloads or a benchmark position do not establish reliability in a different workflow.
Validity gaps
Check sample selection, baseline configuration, uncertainty, contamination risk, negative results and access to code or weights. No reproduction by WeWorkBuddy is recorded here.
Verification plan
Read the paper or model card and its evaluation appendix. Reproduce one bounded result against the stated baseline, then test a representative user task and record where the conclusion fails.
